Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and family

The Conan Doyle family portrait, taken during Arthur Conan Doyle’s first marriage, with wife Louisa (“Tooey”) seated in front of him, and their children Mary and Kingsley behind her. His mother Mary Foley Doyle is seated next to her. The others include his brother and his sisters and their husbands and other children. The elderly seated gent is not ACD’s father, who was dead, but a cousin from his mother’s side of the family. ACD is the most famous of all in the picture by far, but Connie’s husband, second from the left in back, was E. W. Hornung, well known as the author of the popular Raffles stories and other works.
